Actually, after some though, I think I might just go for the rule of 
nines - provide cost and weight for torso armour - legs will be the same 
and arms will be half cost and weight.  Head will be half that.  Not the 
most accurate, but it should work OK.  I will take better ideas if offered.

Doesn't really cater for the whole bulk/breath-ability side of things, 
but...
