with all this and the threat of the allies super-weapon the Nazi
Generals decide to take drastic action. Hitler assasinated and the
Generals take over. Surrender follows.

Without a strong Soviet does ascendency of the USA result? 
Any thoughts on asia anyone?
what does all this mean to the characters? Think about where you and
your ancestors are from. 
What about culture and technology?

strapped Germany and pursue the moon still defect to the USA? ICBMs and
a diluted cold war follow but the race for the moon is gone replaced by
conservative space development (what most NASA scientists prefered)
starting with a space station and working out. Without the extravagance
space development is viewed as just another industry by the 1990's so
less cultural resistance. With a steady build up of space infrastructure
space technology is actually ahead by 2095. say TL10 in space drives and
a few other things (hard science).
