Scene Four: Sending Jiangshi Back to Sleep
==========================================

With great optimism Xiǎo visited their society with hope of using their
goods to employ the fence's guard, who would surely lose employ, and to
provide for a local orphanage. Alas, their goods were deemed most
inappropriate. Wang Shu, the house's elderly matron, was most critical of
the choice of goods, and considered them unsaleable, as they would be
recognised as belonging to the chief Nanping fence, Wang Lei.
Unfortunately, Xiǎo had only taken a few coins so neither the guard nor
the orphanage could be funded this way. "But look how beautiful this
jewelry is", protested Xiǎo. "These fine goblets, and these gems! Are they
not valuable?". Indeed they were; but as enticing as beautiful art is, its
beauty and price comes from being unique, and the unique can be
recognised. Xiǎo left heavy-hearted, knowing that neither the guard would
be employed, or the orphanage built. Worse still, they knew that they had
to carry their twice-stolen goods, for leaving them behind would surely be
a temptation.

[Xiǎo gained 1 point of Limit Break because of this]

Meanwhile, Shí rén went to talk with GǔnShí's family, to find out what had
happened to the wayward member of the Cult of the Eternal Warrior. It was
far from the centre of town, among the small rice paddy farms in land that
was both moist and uneven. Barely clad children ran about him, and the
signs of the poor people were abound. Finding GǔnShí's family, he accepted
their offer of a simple lunch (which he paid for generously). Speaking to
his father, his discoverd that GǔnShí - who had learned the ability to
raise the dead - had not gain to join the bandits. Indeed the bandits had
raided this poor hamlet numerous times ("God must really hate us
peasants", exclaimed one old lady). Rather GǔnShí had gone *to* the
bandits as he considered it his duty to rob them and return with wealth
for the family.

With the new information at had, the Exalted took to the directions
provided by GǔnShí's family and took to the trails that led deep into the
woods and mountains. After a day's journey in the mist and fog they found
themselves approaching a clearing with a steep south-facing incline. This
was considered the possible site for a graveyard, and the discovery of
headstones confirmed this. It was therefore not surprising with the
information at hand, that the Exalted found themselves attacked from out
of the mist by numerous jiangshi, who hopped towards them. For mere
mortals, these raised dead would truly be an infectous danger. Whilst
tough, they were however no match for the Exalted, the greatest danger
occuring when Shí rén slipped in the mud and dropped his magical great Dao
blade, which was taken by one of the jiangshi strking Qian, who in turn
had attacked with extraordinary flourish. But at the last of the jiangshi
fell to the blows of the Exalted, a human voice was heard and looking up,
they could see the outline of of peasant - GǔnShí - high on the slope.

"My ancestors!", he cried. "What have you done to them?!"
